Cyjax is in a period of expansion of which the Development Team are at the core; we are looking for a Senior Developer to join our Development Team and help lead our growth. Your Responsibilities

As Senior Backend Developer, you will be working closely with the Development Team and Infrastructure Team to work on our tech stack and projects.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications using PHP, Python, and Java.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs and microservices to support robust application functionality.
• Work on projects deployed on AWS-based infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with the Development and Infrastructure Teams to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• Write and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation for seamless team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in backend development, cloud computing, and DevOps to enhance system design and team capabilities.
• Enforce and promote coding standards and best practices across the team.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Ensure backend systems comply with ISO 27001 standards and other cybersecurity best practices.

What You Should Bring

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Developer with DevOps experience, possessing the following:

• Proven expertise (5+ years) in backend development with proficiency in PHP and experience in Python or Java as a plus.
• Familiarity with PHP frameworks, preferably Laravel.
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL systems (e.g., Elasticsearch).
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and AWS ECS.
• Experience with AWS-based cloud infrastructure is a plus, including designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable solutions.
• Solid understanding of SaaS architecture, microservices design, and distributed application development.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes, including requirements gathering, issue tracking, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed, effective technical decisions.
• Clear and professional communication skills in English for collaboration with an international team.
• Experience in cybersecurity or knowledge of security frameworks is a significant advantage.

We aim to complete the process within 2 weeks.

1) Code Assessment

Candidates whose profiles closely match what we're looking for will be invited to complete a take-home coding exercise. The assessment takes approximately 2 hours and can be done at your convenience within the provided deadline.

2) Technical Interview

Candidates with strong assessment results will be invited to a video interview. This conversation will cover both technical and soft skills, and is also a chance to learn more about our team, culture, and how we work.
