dotData is hiring a customer-facing data scientist who is excited about automating data science. This position requires working directly with customers to use dotData products to solve their challenging problems, and working with the product/engineering teams to incorporate customer feedback to continuously improve product functionalities.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Work directly with customers to define business problems, translate those problems into a set of well-defined data science use cases with quantifiable success criteria, as well as architect/develop solutions centered around dotData products
- Be a trusted advisor to our customers, providing consultations on the best practices of data science and related technology fields. Advise customers in new use case discovery and the expansion of dotData footprint in customer’s analytics landscape. Responsible for the continued success of our customers with dotData products
- Collect customer feedback and work with product/engineering teams to incorporate them into the product development process, while addressing customer requests in a strategic manner
- Conduct benchmarking analysis using open source datasets and explore new techniques for product improvement. This includes new algorithms, new data processing techniques, new feature engineering methods, etc. Build demos/prototypes if needed to accelerate the adoption of new features
- Work closely with the sales team on enhancing dotData visibility within customer organization, and enabling potential cross sale/up sale opportunities
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years professional experience building data science-driven solutions including data processing, feature engineering/selection, model training/tuning, and post-deployment validation
- Strong knowledge of data analytics and machine learning, and familiarity with common use cases across different industries
- Strong hands-on coding skills (preferably in Python) and familiarity with SQL
- Strong communication and presentation skills, and passionate about evangelizing data science solutions to broader teams on the customer side and driving business impact
- BS/BA Degree in Math, Engineering, CS or another Quantitative field
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional experience working in a customer facing role
- Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, AWS and related Big Data Technologies
- Experience building data pipelines
- Expert domain knowledge with a specific industry, e.g., financial services, insurance, etc
