Technical Team Leader

B2B: PLN 170 - 250 / Hour 💰

LOCATION: Kraków (Hybrid Work Mode)*

*Work two days from our Kraków office and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely for three days each week.

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who combines strong technical expertise with excellent leadership and people management skills. You’ll play a key role in building and leading a new development team from the ground up, while also staying close to the code – especially in the early stages of the project.

This is an ideal role for a senior-level engineer who has intentionally moved into a managerial path, but still enjoys diving into complex technical challenges when needed.           

Key Duties and Requirements: A Roadmap to Your Professional Success 🚀

Scope of responsibilities:

• Lead and grow a team of 4–5 engineers building a cutting-edge data collection platform.
• Take a hands-on approach in the early project phase: solving technical challenges, writing code, and setting engineering standards.
• Build the team from scratch: hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing your team members.
• Run regular 1:1s, provide feedback, foster growth, and address interpersonal challenges within the team.
• Collaborate closely with other Managers to deliver value to the business.
• Communicate effectively across tech and non-tech stakeholders, translating business goals into technical outcomes.
• Continuously improve development processes and ensure the system is performant, scalable, and reliable.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and assist with critical escalations.

Here’s a set of skills we require:

• 8+ years of experience in Java / Clojure development (experience in Clojure is not mandatory, Java engineers eager to learn Clojure are welcome to apply).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and experience with tools like Kafka, SQS, PostgreSQL, S3, and AWS.
• Proven experience as a Technical/Team Leader or Engineering Manager, ideally in fast-paced, product-oriented environments.
• Strong track record in building and managing engineering teams from the ground up.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills – you care about people, not just code.
• Experience with 1:1s, performance feedback, mentoring, and conflict resolution.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with a bias toward action and delivering results.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Go and JavaScript is advantageous.

Navigating the Hiring Process: What does the recruitment process for that position look like? 🍀

1. HR Screening - once we get your CV, we’ll take a look and schedule a brief call. During this conversation, you can learn more about the company and your role. The call is also for us to learn more about you and talk about your expectations. We make sure the conversation is concrete but also very informal and friendly. Duration about 15-30 min.
2. Technical interview - during this stage, we conduct two video calls with one of our client experts. We evaluate your technical knowledge and experience required for the open position. Duration is approximately 60 minutes.
3. Live Coding Session - A hands-on coding exercise to assess your technical proficiency and approach to problem-solving. Duration is approximately 60 minutes.
4. HR Interview - A final interview with one of our client experts to discuss team fit, company culture, and address any remaining questions.
