    Job description

Digital & Technology Team (D&T) is an integral division of HEINEKEN Global Shared Services Center. We are committed to making Heineken the most connected brewery. That includes digitalizing and integrating our processes, ensuring best-in-class technology, and embedding a data-driven culture. By joining us you will work in one of the most dynamic and innovative teams and have a direct impact on building the future of Heineken!

Would you like to meet the Team, see our office and much more? Visit our website: Heineken (heineken-dt.pl)

We're looking for a Back-end Architect who will drive the evolution of our stack that powers our front-end experiences. This means building the digital product(s) and services that our company uses to serve over 2 million B2B customers and close to 15 bn EUR in revenue directly and indirectly.

Together with Product Owners, other Architects, Development Lead(s), and development teams, you're setting the standards for how Heineken sells its world-class products online and serves it customers more broadly. All under the flag of its first truly global B2B brand: eazle.

You will be part of a team of technical frontrunners within Heineken that are driving our move towards a microservice-based/composable architecture. We’re building a worldclass inhouse tech team that is claiming technical autonomy, ownership and playfulness. Being successful in this role means staying curious, taking the lead and try things out (“the proof of the pudding…” 😊).

    Your responsibilities would include:

    • ensuring the stability of the application stack while it scales and defining technical roadmap for it (incl. defining the standards for BE teams to support the B2B FE experience)
    • owning and extending the domain-driven approach and working with other architects to mature it as a building block of our composable architecture
    • setting up, operating, and improving end-to-end monitoring of the application stack including infrastructure-, integration-, application performance and user sessions (incl. defining key metrics and notifications)
    • working with Backend specialists and govern the orchestration layer (Apollo GraphQL based) so that is reliable in its role to support various FE experiences (i.e., EDM compliance)
    • owning the application stack for our B2B commerce experience and ensuring it meets all Enterprise Architecture prerequisites (i.e., performance, security, privacy, automation, documentation)
    • driving key architecture design decisions and running Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate them and lay the groundwork for development teams
    • designing and guiding the build of custom services to extend or replace existing services (i.e. low latency pricing services).

You are a good candidate if you have:

    • extensive knowledge of Javascript and Typescript, specifically in the context of Node.js (primarily) and Next.js
    • experience with designing a backend for frontend (BBF) specifically based on GraphQL and ideally also leveraging Apollo GraphOS
    • in-depth knowledge of composable and headless architecture (ideally incl. carving out services and/or building them from scratch)
    • hands-on experience with the end-to-end process of software development (i.e., development and release process)
    • broad experience with event monitoring and observability concepts, frameworks and tooling (i.e., OpenTelemetry, ZeroTrust, NewRelic)
    • experience with one or multiple PaaS/IaaS cloud services (i.e. Azure, AWS)
    • experience with the concept of containerization and how to implement/ support it (incl. knowing the basic of Linux)
    • working knowledge of setting up DevOps capabilities (i.e. Azure DevOps) such as CI/CD pipelines and connecting a variety of development tools
    • working knowledge in related technical concepts, frameworks and tools such as REST, Json, CLI (Docker, Powershell), Postman, swagger)
    • relentless curiosity and willingness to learn
    • reliable and diligent when working with others
    • empathic and stakeholder sensitive (i.e., able to bring people onboard)
    • coaching and guidance to development/DevOps engineers
    • ability to define and convey an architecture vision/roadmap
    • working with senior stakeholders with varying technical expertise
    • excellent written and verbal English.

You are a perfect match if you also have:

    • familiarity with Microsoft Azure offering, specifically Platform as a Service (PaaS) products such as Azure App Services
    • headless CMS experience (i.e., Contentful or similar)
    • offline app development experience (implications, conceptual) based on ReactNative, Flutter, etc. (especially w/r to caching considerations)
    • experience with security tooling like SASTs and DASTs, and approaches such as Penetration tests and access monitoring.

At HEINEKEN Kraków, we take integrity and ethical conduct seriously. If someone has concerns about a possible violation of legal regulations indicated in Polish Whistleblowing Act or our Code of Business Conduct, we encourage them to speak up. Cases can be reported to global team or locally (in line with the local HGSS Whistleblowing procedure) by selecting proper option in this tool or by communicating it on hotline.
