Within the Swiss exchange, Index IT is responsible for calculating all our indices such as "SMI" with high precision. We are an international team with more than 10 nationalities and are expanding to become an global index provider. Our index platform is of great importance to SIX as it is tightly coupled with the exchange: neither can run without the other.
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our newly established Index Data Transformation Team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative projects and be at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge data technologies and concepts within a dynamic team environment. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in data processing, analysis, and modeling, with proficiency in various programming languages and data management tools.
- collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform and integrate data from diverse sources into data lake houses
- contribute to data modeling efforts, leveraging modeling tools and establishing domain-specific data patterns
- utilize programming skills in SQL and Python to develop and optimize financial data pipelines and analytical processes
- implement data quality measures using tools like Great Expectations or similar data quality frameworks
- work with query engines such as Trino and manage metadata through Hive Metastore
- exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related issues and challenges
- demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- continuously learn and stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends
- proven experience in a data engineer or similar role preferably within the financial industry
- proficiency in SQL and Python exposure
- experience with Financial Data Modelling, Pandas, NumPy, and other data processing libraries
- experience with one or more Database Management Systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Mongo DB
- familiarity with data lakehouse concepts, data contracts, schema management
- hands-on experience with data quality tools (e.g., Great Expectations) and Data Migration is a plus
- strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- ability to work effectively within Agile/SAFe frameworks is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field is a plus
