Java Developer (Mid/Senior)

We are looking for Java developer to join Sopra Steria Apps Services team for a client in the aerospace sector. You will work in an industrial, stable environment in multinational team for a major aeronautical manufacturer. The program involves wide portfolio of applications developed by multiple teams. 

Our scope is to develop applications that for example support pilots and crew, the airline in planning the flights, airports operations in modern technologies in mainly 2 streams: .NET and Java, with a front on VueJS/TypeScript.  All applications are deployed to AWS Cloud.

Mission/tasks

• Implement solutions and deliver high quality software
• Help to define requirements, create software designs and translate them into code
• Create and test software to enhance the solution and all related modules and services
• Shape and apply our software standards of clean code and performance optimization techniques
• Mentoring and support for other team members
• Problem-solving and challenge-driven discussion regarding solutions
• Cooperation with the client
• Code review
• Unit testing, integration testing
• Ability to work independently
• Communication with other teams regarding solutions

• Backend: Java 8, Python, TypeScript (serverless)
• Frontend: Vue.js (2)
• Databases: MySQL, DynamoDB
• Frameworks: Spring, serverless for TypeScript
• Knowledge repositories: Confluence
• CI/CD: GitLab, Jenkins/Cloudbees
• Version control systems: GIT
• Cloud: AWS (AWS lambda, SAM, CloudFormation, RDS, SQS, Lambda Functions and other AWS services are used)
• CloudFormation/SAM, Artifactory
• SonarQube
• Microservices-based architecture

Must-have requirements

• Min. 3 years of full-time experience in software development with Java
• Experience with Vue.js
• Strong “can-do” attitude and very good communication skills
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
• Desire and ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages
• Ability to gather and define business requirements
• Team player
• Experience with SQL databases
• Experience with Docker
• Previous experience with AWS
• Experience with frontend
• Customer-focused attitude
• Fluent English B2/C1
• Being open to occasional business trips abroad and visits in our office in Katowice

Nice to have requirements:

• Experience in Application Lifecycle Management tools (e.g.: Agility)
• Leadership experience
• Knowledge of Python

Location: Katowice or Gdańsk/hybrid
