Senior/Lead Python Backend Developer (Geospatial)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer with extensive experience in processing geographical data to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to an innovative map application designed to visualize flooding, drought risk, and other environmental hazards across the UK. Your expertise will help drive impactful solutions in environmental risk management, providing critical insights and data visualization to support our mission of mitigating environmental challenges.

Main responsibilities

• Taking part in ideation/discovery sessions with the customer;
• Giving technical advice to the customer;
• Having a proactive approach to identify current problems in the app;
• Identifying and implementing new features;
• Documenting the implemented work in a structured way;
• Actively participate in team meetings;

Apply if you have

• +7 years of commercial experience in Python programming;
• Experience in handling server-side operations, managing databases, and processing data;
• Working experience with backend technologies;
• Working experience with Azure (ideally) or other cloud provider;
• Working with Scrum methodology and Jira;
• Writing work documentation (workflow, diagrams);
• Communicative, structured person with focus on customer needs and business view;
• Advanced English level;
• Java knowledge is a plus;
• Geographical data knowledge is nice to have:
• performing geoprocessing operations;
• spatial analysis and algorithms;
• vector/raster datasets, geometry primitives, coordinate reference systems;
